DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF GEATOYOTA:

THE SYSTEM OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT OF THE TOYOTA ESPAÑA NETWORK.

Last October 2001, TOYOTA Spain contracted AUREN to develop and implement a system of environmental management for DMAs (Authorized Small Scale Distributors) and Ras (The Authorized Maintenance Department) of TOYOTA in Spain. In its continual concern for the wellbeing of the environment TOYOTA has decided to introduce a management system that will help all its subsidiary companies to carry out all the legal requirements and to improve its conduct in repair to the environment. The TOYOTA group consists of 116 companies with 241 production plants AuraPortal BPMS-CRMdistributed in Spain.

The TOYOTA group system of environmental management is trying to reach the following objectives:

  • To homogenize and improve the good environmental management within the group.

  • o clarify the legal requirements that apply to the group and to guarantee the fulfillment of them.

  • To improve continuously the environmental performance of the companies that belong to the TOYOTA group in Spain.

  • To improve the control and to optimize the consumption of raw materials and energy, as well as the costs derived from the management or treatment of the residues, spills and emissions.

  • To improve the environmental image of the chain group perceived by society.

In order to achieve the objectives of this Project, it needed to make available an environmental management tool based on a computer program which would be allow the efficient coordination required to introduce a system of management for such a large group of companies and work centres. Therefore, TOYOTA Spain with the advice of AUREN has chosen the AuraPortal BPMS.

AuraPortal BPMS-CRMThe AUREN team formed by consultants in quality management systems and IT consultants have customized the AuraPortal platform by modelling the management processing system, in a way that each participant in the system receives the tasks to carry out and permits the people responsible for quality control of TOYOTA to monitor the performance of the required activities in all the network. Likewise, it has created a library of necessary documents in order to manage the environment legislation and a checklist that applies to each workcentre.

The environmental management system of TOYOTA Spain Network is called GEATOYOTA (Gestión ambiental eficaz Toyota); and currently is developed to 80%.

Until now implementation tests have been carried out in three DMAs pilots and during the month of April will begin the implementation of the first promotion, formed by 30 companies. It is predicted that the Project will be totally finished in all the network by next December 2009.
