Ask each one of the contender vendors to develop a real process you have or want to have in your company.

Select a short but truly complex process, not just an approval circuit. For instance, a process with subprocesses, human and system tasks, exception events (time and message), parallel and looping flow threads, etc. to handle multi-register data with complex automatic treatments for each register and the automatic construction and digital signature of related documents, including the integration of an independent set of business rules that can be changed any time without touching the process model.
